Welcome to the Tournament Rules Pack for the
2011 DaBoyz America Team Championship. This tournament has been created to bring together gamers from many different groups and areas to find out once and for all who are the best gamers. The date for the Tournament is Friday, October 21, 2011.
Team Formation
Each Team is made up of 4 players.
A Team should consist of a minimum of 4 playing members; a 5th non-playing member may also attend the tournament. The Team must have a nominated Captain (either playing or non-playing).
The Team Captain is responsible for the conduct of his/her Team. They are responsible for pairing their Team each round, submitting results, and are required to participate in the 40K Captains Council as necessary.
The non-playing Team Member is allowed to:
- Be the Team Captain
- Designate the Pairings
- Collate and Submit Team Results
- Ask questions about how the game is going
- Tell their player they require a Win/Draw/Loss
The non-playing Team Member is not allowed to:
- Give Tactical advice (they may not tell their player ‘how’ to get that Win/Draw/Loss!)
Any perceived breach of these rules is to be brought to the attention of a 40K Ref who will be pointed out to you at the start of the event.
Tournament Schedule
Friday, October 21st:
10:00 – 10:30 - Team Registration
10:30 – 11:00 - Captains Council *
11:00 – 12:00 - Lunch and Army list verification**

* The Captains Council on Friday will be used for (but not restricted to) presentations, first round random pairing, referee briefing, last minute issues/votes, & terrain tables review.
**List verification is to take the burden off the judges and shift it onto the players. After the first round of pairings, each team is responsible for reviewing and verifying their opponent’s list. Each team will have to provide a list and codex (if needed) for the first round opponents. If a list is incorrect, then the player will have 5 minutes to correct the mistakes. If not corrected in the allotted 5 minutes, then a judge will make corrections to the list to make it legal.
Rules
We will be playing with the 5th edition of the Warhammer 40,000 rules without any add-ons. As such, Imperial Armour, Forgeworld, or Apocalypse rules are not allowed.
English versions of army books and rulebooks take priority over all other versions.
Each player must have all codices and rules they are using, army rosters, dice, measuring tapes and templates.
All official GW FAQs and INAT FAQs are in use. The Tournament will be officiated by 3 Head Referees and they can be supported by any number of Junior Referees.
A Referees word is final; moreover, a Yellow/Red card system will be implemented.
A Head Referee may call an Extraordinary Captains Council at any time during the Event to discuss any matter. The Timer for the Round is suspended if it is during a round and the time will be caught up or added on at the end of the day (just like during a soccer match!).
Cards:
A player or Team may receive any number of Yellow cards before receiving a Red card, however, a repeat offence that involves the same Player/Team will be strongly considered for a more severe penalty (for example another Yellow card with a higher gaming point fine).
Yellow Card – Warning
Offending Player and Players Captain are both warned. Referee may choose to fine the player gaming points. A Yellow card with a 20-0 fine is allowed.
Red Card – Sin-bin
Offending Player concedes the game (20-0) and must leave the hall until the end of the round. This resolution is to allow a violent or abusive player a chance to cool down before they are allowed back into the gaming hall.
A Referee issuing a gaming point fine will ask for the Teams Result Sheet prior to submission at the end of the round. They will annotate the fine on the Offending players score sheet and ensure that this is correctly implemented with the Administrative Staff.
Armies
The tournament will use 2000 point armies following the Standard Force Organization Chart.
Special/Individual Characters are allowed.
Names of players with armies and team army lists are to be submitted the day of the event. Each person will have to provide 3 copies of their list.

Scoring and Missions

Secondary objective (4 points)
The player that wins the secondary objective scores 4 points. If the secondary objective is a draw both players score 2 points.
Victory points (8 points)
Calculate the victory point difference between the players and consult the table below:

Team Players Pairing System:
Teams will be matched by a Swiss system after the first round which is random.
Captains will have 30 minutes before each match to decide who will play with which opponent. This is part of the 3 hour time limit. They can consult with and use the help of the rest of their team if they wish.
Players will be matched by their Captains in the following way:
"Secret challenge" - at the start of the pairing, Captains chose secretly one player to be their Champion. Champions can be different from round to round. Both names of Champions are written down at the start of the pairing on a separate piece of paper and revealed at the end of it. Champions play on the last available table.
After that:
1. Both captains roll a dice.
2. Captain A, who rolled lowest, puts forward player A.
3. Captain B puts forward a player to fight player A.
4. Captain A chooses a table for that game.
5. Captain B, who rolled highest, puts forward player B.
6. Captain A puts forward a player to fight player B.
7. Captain B chooses a table for that game.
8. Captain A ... and so on until all players have been chosen for the match.
Painting
While painting does not figure into the scoring system, all armies have to be fully painted/based and be WYSIWYG. Teams will be judged as a whole for the best painting award. This award will be a subjective award and decisions will be made by the judges. The outcome of the painting competition will not have an outcome of the event. This award is for bragging rights only.
