Rule clarifications
  • Look Out Sir!: Characters (not champions) will get "look out sir" versus the spells that automatically remove models or entire units: Dwellers Below, Dreaded 13th, Infernal Gateway 11-12 effect, etc. Normal requirements for lookout sir apply.
  • If Dreaded 13th kills all but the character(s) the unit the character is placed in the location of the center of the front rank, then the unit is removed. Rats are created per the spell and placed one inch from the character.
  • Cannons or anything else that uses a line and hits like a cannon: the line may not have the possibility to violate targeting rules (friendly units, units in combat, etc.) including a template at the end.
  • Virtual pivots: pivoting/wheeling models may ignore models, impassable terrain and board edges when pivoting, as long as they do not end their move within 1" of models or impassable terrain.
  • Fast-cav/skirmish BS is not allowed. You may not use units to 'pin' a unit, making it impossible to complete a charge or move. If this comes up get a judge and we'll move units or allow a charge.
Event Overview
The Fantasy GT will be a six game event at 2000 Points with fully painted armies. Non-GW models are welcome but must fairly represent the model/unit. This is an open-list event and you must give an army list to your opponent prior to each game. If you do a napkin list with just names of items your opponent may ask about each item, how it works, what it does, etc.

Terrain will be fixed and will be 'normal' versions although some tables will have named terrain features and these will have a card explaining the rule(s). These could include monuments, idols, etc. from the rule book.

We're looking to have a fun event with the ability of non-broken armies to compete at the highest levels. Each round will be on a 20 point scale plus bonuses. These bonuses will be things like 'control a terrain feature', 'have a core unit in the opponent's deployment zone', etc.

The scenarios will be published the week before the event and will not include break-point or watchtower as wins, although these scenarios may be used with battle points (example: 250 VP for breaking your opponent).

True Line of Sight will be used. We will work to have terrain that actually blocks some line of sight.
Scoring
Scoring will be:
  • Battle: 16 points per round using the 20-0 system. Each point over 15 scores .2 points, so a full 20 gets you 16.  This will allow for tie breaks but also means you do not need to bring some crazy army that wrecks everyone to place at the top (yes, I'm talking to me). There will also be at least 4 bonus points per round that will not be tied to wrecking your opponent.
  • Appearance: 40 points - 25 of are off a checklist which will be published, 10 are also on the checklist but require a score of 25, five are at the judges discretion but don't require the 25 point base.
  • Sports: 40 points - each player will give a good/bad/indifferent vote for each game. The total of bad game votes minus good game votes will deduct from 40 points on a sliding scale. 1 bad game vote won't hurt much - six will devastate your score.
  • Bonus - 5 points for turning in your list on time;
  • Penalties - minus 1 point for the first time you turn in results late, 2 for the second, etc. Slow play will not be allowed so we can get in all six games. Judges will be monitoring game progress so a player does not get penalized for opponent stalling.
Schedule
Rounds will start right on time. Players must have all models on trays and ready to deploy at the start of the round.

Player list

Here are the 32 players that have confirmed - we have another 12 that I'm waiting on lists or payment. We have some really great players coming from around the country. We're also expecting some beautiful armies. Tables can still be added in the venue so if you have friends that are on the fence get them registered. The winner would receive 86 world ranking points if we have 32 players. If you have not done so please submit your list to cardhammer@gmail.com

Composition
  • No special characters
  • Unit size: No more than 30 infantry, 12 cav, 9 monstrous (anything), 6 chariots, 6 swarms (this does not include characters that join or summoned models). There are units that may go up to 50, including slaves, goblins, gnoblars and the like. 20 wolf riders, 15 skellie fast cav - no problem! Just email me if you have a army/unit to check and I'll let you know right away if you are good. If you call your unit a bus it's probably going to fail so be reasonable!
  • Combos - the entire point of everything below is to prevent the nasty combo (that I like to play). An example would be 3 units of 40 ghouls with a vamp lord on WS10 and helm - not for this event. 3 units of 40 ghouls with a vampire general, probably ok. I'm getting lots of emails with possible setups and so far they are all good.
  • No duplicate rares - High Elves may have two rares. 2-for-1 rares just count as a single choice.
  • Max 3 war machines and templates, including breath weapons. A unit of two salamanders would count as two.
  • Max of 12 power/dispel dice in a phase - regardless of source. Any d6 rolled counts (mushrooms, warpstone, etc.)
  • Max of 3 generated dice (any d6, power, channel, etc.) per magic phase. If the opponent brings more than 3 bonus dispel then this limit is lifted. Dispell of any type (used or not), items that end the magic phase count as a dispell die generated in all turns, not just the turn used.
  • Maximum of two of any type of character, regardless of equipment
  • Folding fortress is 3 levels
  • Maximum of 30 wounds in a building - Monstrous count as 3 each
  • Power Scroll is allowed using the new White Dwarf errata rule (halves casting value, no boosting, etc.)
  • Lizardmen - No cupped hands
  • Daemons - Gifts are all 0-1. No Daemonic Icons. No Siren Song
  • Dark Elves - Pendant may not be taken if the character has a 4+ or better armour save
  • Skaven - Doom rocket is a war machine
  • Ogres - Firebelly is 0-1. Hellheart is banned.
